Sarasota: Stingray’s Grill and some French Fries

Posted by French Fry Fairy On February - 25 - 20104 COMMENTS

stingray grillI had to work on a Saturday, which was a real bummer. On top of working on a Saturday, I had to drive to Tampa. The four hour road trip ended up being a lot of fun. I just started working with Jason, so four hours in the car could have been awful if we didn’t get along so well. It turns out he was my instant BFF.

I introduced him to music I like. He introduced me to music he liked. We talked a lot. That is a lie. I talked a lot. Finally after four hours we arrived in Tampa to photograph a member of the US Sailing Team. She is also training to be in the Summer Olympics, so that was pretty cool! Read the rest of this entry »

South Beach: La Piaggia Beach Club and French Fries

la piaggia2La Piaggia Beach Club is a local favorite that is located on South Pointe Drive in South Beach. I went to lunch with my friend, Jeff. He also brought along his best friend, Max, who happens to be the cutest little yellow lab in history.

Jeff and I sat in the corner of the laid back restaurant and ordered our food. I know this may come as a surprise, but I ordered French fries. Jeff and I gobbled and gorged on the fried potatoes – even though, they really weren’t anything special. I dipped them in mayonnaise and even a little ketchup. Yummy, yummy… but not good for my tummy. Read the rest of this entry »

Fort Lauderdale: Ale House… I almost didn’t get my French Fries

Posted by French Fry Fairy On February - 19 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

alehouse2I love my life. I work from home and I rarely ever have to be anywhere. I can work when I want to work and play when I want to play. Every once in a while I have to show up to a meeting. I am not going to lie – I get excited! Besides my friend time, I spend my workdays by myself hanging out with my cats. Even when I hang out with my friends, I rarely leave South Beach. You would think that journey across the bridge to the mainland would be as difficult as going across the country. It’s not just me… most people here who live and work on the beach rarely leave their comfort zone. Even though I am pretty new here, I have easily fallen into the category of South Beach hermit.

So, this day was special. Not only was I leaving the beach, but I was going to a meeting for work. That’s right… killing two birds with one stone. I even put on a smidgeon of makeup! Big day… Read the rest of this entry »

Josh and I took a leisurely stroll down Washington Avenue one day because we were bored. I will be honest. I really don’t fit into the whole South Beach scene. I am too nice and I look too much like I am from the Midwest. Beingbig boobs such a simple girl, I have never cared too much about my looks. One thing I never thought I needed was fake breasts. Apparently, I was wrong. Even the mannequins in South Beach have fake breasts. Ugh… that is one thing I don’t want to have to do to fit in! I will get the small dog, but I think I will have to refuse the silicone.

Josh and I ended up on Lincoln Road and walked up and down the street like we have so many times before. After a while our tummies started begging for food with loud hunger growls. We stopped at Books and Books for some grub.

Books and Books is one of my favorite Read the rest of this entry »

South Beach: Super Bowl in Miami and Big Pink

IMG00302In preparation for the Super Bowl, My friend Tania and I went to get haircuts so we would look fabulous for all the festivities. Tania has a new best friend, Duber Osorio, who is a magnificent stylist at Oribe Salon in South Beach. After my visit, I also have a new best friend. Duber is amazing. Doing my hair has never been so easy! I can hop out of the shower, let my hair air dry and it still looks good. I have weird wavy hair that Read the rest of this entry »

South Beach: Burger and Beer Joint… Again!

Posted by French Fry Fairy On February - 2 - 20107 COMMENTS

burger and beer joint5I am no stranger to Burger and Beer Joint. Although it is famous for burgers, B&B also offers a wide assortment of fried foods that tempt my sophisticated palate. That’s right, I have a sophisticated palate that is trained to distinguish fine oil saturated delicacies from ordinary fried goodness. I think I will go ahead and make the bold assumption that almost everything tastes better fried. The only exception might be a fried latte. I don’t know how to fry a latte, but apparently it exists. Whatever. Fried vegetables are more up my alley.  Read the rest of this entry »
