Right after I went to Pensacola, my friend Steven went to Pensacola too! I wish we could have gone on the same day, but alas, I was on my way to somewhere new by the time Steven made it to the Panhandle. Steven went to Hopjacks, which happens to be a pizza joint. However, Hopjacks serves Belgian Fries, so Steven was in luck! Woo hoo! The menu at Hopjacks sets its French fry standards pretty high. Read what they have to say… Read the rest of this entry »

Pensacola, Florida: Dharma Blue with Potato Chips
Jason and I continued our travels through the deep south. It seems kind of weird that we had to travel 6 hours north to reach the deep south, but whatever… We stopped in Pensacola, Florida to visit my very dear friend, Becka.
Becka and I used to get into a lot of trouble in college. She was actually my big sister in
my sorority so in addition to getting into trouble with me, she also kept me out of some trouble. Enough said… It is weird to see her all grown up with a husband and family. The role fits her Read the rest of this entry »
Huntsville, Alabama: Cantina Laredo and French Fries
I arrived in Huntsville, Alabama which was quite a step up from Greenville, Alabama. Jason and Marc were doing a photo shoot for Golf Magazine, so I sat by myself and explored the city just a little bit. I went to a little shopping plaza to have a look around. The thing that sucks about shopping is you can never find anything new. No matter where you go in the United States, you will always find the same stores. There will always be a Gap, a Banana Republic, a couple old lady stores and other chains that have nothing unique. However, I was pretty happy that I was in such a well-populated area in Alabama that was really quite lovely. There were mountains just outside the city. It was nice.
After I tired from the endless chain store shopping, I arrived at Cantina Laredo for lunch. I learned that this was a chain restaurant even though I have never seen one before. Regardless, the food was really Read the rest of this entry »
Greenville, Alabama: Hook’s BBQ for some French Fries and Potato Salad
I haven’t spent too much time in Alabama, but recently I had the rare opportunity to drive through the state. You may be asking yourself why I would be driving through Alabama when I am a South Florida resident. I was asking myself the same question when I saw nothing but Sonny’s BBQ, Waffle House and Wal-Mart on every single corner. Soon afterwards, I saw a truck with fake testicles hanging from the from the trailer hitch…. Classy.
So, Jason and I were in search of a place to eat. We rolled into Greenville, Alabama and pulled up to Hook’s Bar-B-Q. It was perfect. It looked like a place that only locals would go. This is exactly what Jason and I were searching for because we wanted to get a real feel for Alabama. Read the rest of this entry »
Jalapeño Cheddar Potato Chips by Archer Farms
It comes as no surprise that is rained again in Miami, so I put on my Strawberry Shortcake pajamas, grabbed some Archer Farms Jalapeño Cheddar potato chips and grabbed a cat to cuddle with on the couch. I was a little nervous to eat the chips because of my terrible experience with the General Tso flavor.
Jason really picked out the Jalapeño Cheddar chips. He didn’t trust me to pick out another flavor after the General Tso debacle. Besides, he likes spicy stuff. As a matter
of fact, Jason planted a garden in the backyard. Read the rest of this entry »
Taxis in Virginia that are Fueled by French Fry Oil… Bio Taxi is my New Hero
If you live in Richmond, Virginia you are in luck! You can get where you need to go by riding in a taxi, named Bio Taxi, which is fueled by French fry oil. I couldn’t believe this either when I heard it! This is the most exciting news I have heard since I learned that sharks like French fries!
So here are the details behind the genius French fry idea. Two brothers, who spent their formative years flipping burgers, wanted to help save the world by using grease for fuel. Oddly enough, they found a way to do this! Read the rest of this entry »
