
Alexia Oven Crinkles... or French Fries
When I was at Whole Foods, I picked up some French fries I could make at home. I bought Alexia French Fries in the Onion & Garlic flavor. Actually, Alexia wants you to leave out the fry part, so they are called oven crinkle fries. I was a little skeptical. French fries should really be fried.
I read the directions thoroughly and popped them in the oven at the right temperature. When the French fries were finished, they were ok, but not fantastic. French fries are meant to be fried, not baked. When they are baked, they never get that perfect golden brown outside and hot inside that make French fries so yummy in my tummy. I understand that people watching their figure might want to bake rather than fry. I also understand that parents should probably bake the French fries for kids so they don’t get chunky. If that is the case, they are ok. For the rest of us who just want to enjoy a hot, delicious fried snack from time to time, I think that French fries need to be fried.
