Last weekend I hung out with my friend, Kelly. She is always going to pubs to watch soccer (a.k.a. football) and I wanted to take part in the fun. We went to Boca Raton, which is quite a trek, but it was worth the drive. We walked into the Lion and Eagle British Pub and it was like we were immediately transported to England. Everyone had accents, which are pretty hot by the way, and soccer was playing on all the big screen televisions. When I called the sport soccer, I was corrected several Read the rest of this entry »

Trying French Fries at IKEA
Jason and I went to IKEA to eat some French fries and explore… check it out.
Clubhouse One at the Miami International Airport
I hear about the days where people used to dress up to fly and airlines provided impeccable customer service. Unfortunately, I am too young to remember those days. Once upon a time when I had a real job, I was flying across the country, or world, almost weekly. People are crabby, airlines nickel and dime you and overbooked flights are often uncomfortable. I remember my first couple of bad experiences with flights and trying to deal with customer service teams trying to help you from other countries. One time my flight got cancelled, so I called customer service while waiting in the super long line to save some time. The guy on the phone did not understand the geography of the United States. I was in Washington, D.C. trying to get to Florida. He wanted to put me on a flight to California, which took me through Denver. A mere 36 hours later I would have arrived in Florida. Bless his heart. Needless to say, I just waited in line for two hours with the rest of the irritated passengers. After a couple experiences like that, I learned not to get upset. You just need to roll with it because there is nothing you can do. You just need to always have a couple good books and a snack with you at all times. Just smile and be kind because it gets you so much further than yelling and screaming.
For that reason, I never dress up on flights. Yoga pants and a sweatshirt are always my traveling attire. This is why you will notice there are no pictures in this blog post. I looked especially unfortunate this day. Wow, this post is sounding negative. Let me add that I was having the time of my life this particular day. When you are with a good group of friends, life can’t get much better.
So, you are probably wondering about the French fries. I think it is pretty rare to find good food at an airport. I usually just grab some nuts and my favorite coffee beverage and Starbucks instead of experimenting with airport food. I was at Miami International Airport with some friends and they were Read the rest of this entry »
South Beach: Onion Rings at Smith and Wollensky
Carla and I wanted to have a pool day, but it was a little bit too chilly. I guess it is January. We decided to walk over to Smith and Wollensky to grab a snack and maybe a mimosa. On the way there, we saw a manatee at Miami Beach Marina. I have seen manatees in the wild, but this was the closest I have ever seen a manatee without being at a zoo. We followed a boat captain to his boat and
fed the manatee fresh water from a hose. It was so cute! I fell in love…
After our wildlife adventure, we continued our journey to Smith and Wollensky. We sat at the bar and talked about French fries with one of our favorite bartenders, Victor. He also happens to be a bartender at Burger & Beer Joint, so I was pretty excited to talk fried potatoes with him. He really knew what he was talking about.
Smith and Wollensky stopped serving sweet potato fries, so that wasn’t even an option. Read the rest of this entry »

Fried Pickles and Truffle Oil French Fries at Burger and Beer Joint in South Beach
I was out with my friends for an evening of fun and food. We started out by filling our bellies with lots of fried carbs from Burger & Beer Joint. That place is still one of my favorite places for comfort food in South Beach. They just have so many delicious fried options!
We started out with fried pickles. If you have never had fried pickles, I suggest you get your butt up off the couch and find a place that serves these fried delicacies. If you live in South Beach, or near South Beach, you really need to go to Burger & Beer Joint. The pickles are so good because they have a sour taste that is so deliciously tangy and they Read the rest of this entry »
Enjoying Poutine at Dairy Belle in Dania
My friend Josh took me to try out some poutine. I have wanted to try poutine for a very long time so I was stoked when Josh found a place in Florida that actually served the stuff. French fries, gravy and cheese curds was the perfect combination for a very yummy meal!
McDonald’s French Fries at the Minneapolis Airport
I finally left Minnesota after several days of being cold. I was sad to be leaving my friends and family. I was even sadder because I had acquired a nasty cold while in Minnesota. I had to fly home and I was dreading it because my entire head was clogged. I was miserable. I was going to be even more miserable when the plane took off and my head had to adjust to the altitude change. There is nothing worse than feeling like your eyeballs are going to pop out of your head.
My misery turned to hope when I realized there was a Starbucks and a McDonald’s only a couple steps away. There were only a few more days to order specialty drinks from Starbucks, so I got a caramel brulee latte with soy from Starbucks. I then got in the line at McDonald’s for some French fries. French Fries and Bowling at Pinz in Woodbury, Minnesota
I wanted to spend as much time with my friends and family while I was in Minnesota. This also meant spending time with lots of kiddies. Sometime after college everybody seemed to get married and have babies. I missed the memo and have managed to stay single, but when I go to Minnesota I love seeing all the kids growing up!
I asked all of my friends to meet me at Pinz in Woodbury, MN so everybody could bowl with the kids and hang out. This idea goes to show Read the rest of this entry »
Eating French Fries in Cabela’s in Owatonna
I went to Minnesota in the dead of winter. Why? I love my family. It’s so cold up there, but once a year I make the trek and freeze my tooshie off for the entire duration of the trip. This particular trip, I was lucky enough to get a tour of the Cabela’s store in Owatonna. Well, maybe lucky is not the word. I don’t hunt. I don’t fish. I am not a big camper. The only thing that Cabela’s had that interested me was French fries.
I walked into the Cabela’s store, which is enormous. I immediately noticed dead stuffed animals Read the rest of this entry »
