South Beach: Barton G, Amazing French Fries and a Lot of Fun

Tania and I at Barton G

I don’t think I could imagine the awesomeness of Barton G, even in my wildest dreams. The circus-like atmosphere kept me guessing as to what would come next. All the appetizers, main courses and desserts were served in a magical way that made me feel like I was living in a dream. Pictures do not do the place justice. It’s definitely a playground for foodies.

We ordered the popcorn shrimp, which actually comes in a popcorn container. The lobster pop-tarts

arrived in a toaster. The bucket-of-bones arrived in a mini shopping cart. The French fries were the true gem at Barton G. Well maybe not, but Read the rest of this entry »

South Beach: Onion Rings at Smith and Wollensky

Posted by French Fry Fairy On January - 13 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Carla and I wanted to have a pool day, but it was a little bit too chilly. I guess it is January. We decided to walk over to Smith and Wollensky to grab a snack and maybe a mimosa. On the way there, we saw a manatee at Miami Beach Marina. I have seen manatees in the wild, but this was the closest I have ever seen a manatee without being at a zoo. We followed a boat captain to his boat and fed the manatee fresh water from a hose. It was so cute! I fell in love…

After our wildlife adventure, we continued our journey to Smith and Wollensky. We sat at the bar and talked about French fries with one of our favorite bartenders, Victor. He also happens to be a bartender at Burger & Beer Joint, so I was pretty excited to talk fried potatoes with him. He really knew what he was talking about.

Smith and Wollensky stopped serving sweet potato fries, so that wasn’t even an option. Read the rest of this entry »

My Friends and a Night Out in South Beach

I was out with my friends for an evening of fun and food. We started out by filling our bellies with lots of fried carbs from Burger & Beer Joint. That place is still one of my favorite places for comfort food in South Beach. They just have so many delicious fried options!

We started out with fried pickles. If you have never had fried pickles, I suggest you get your butt up off the couch and find a place that serves these fried delicacies. If you live in South Beach, or near South Beach, you really need to go to Burger & Beer Joint. The pickles are so good because they have a sour taste that is so deliciously tangy and they Read the rest of this entry »

Randall, FFF, Jason, Joshie, Nina

After we arrived on Lincoln, the shots began. Oh dear lord… By 8:30 p.m. we lost Joshie. As a result of Joshie having too much fun on Halloween, we also lost Nina. However, we picked up some new friends along the way and Tania was soon by our side.
We stayed at Sushi Samba because of the easy access to the outside bar. It was also impossible to walk down Lincoln, so we found a nice place to hang out. Tania and I were both in 4-inch heels, so our feet couldn’t take too much more.

Halloween in SOBE... woot woot

Randall needed to get up pretty early, so it was a Read the rest of this entry »

Hot and Spicy BBQ Potato Chips on Halloween in South Beach

Four Loko for Halloween

Everyone gathered at Josh’s house for a little pre-party for our Halloween celebrations. The evening started out with Stoli Doli drinks and Four Loko drinks. A Stoli Doli is basically straight vodka that has been soaking with pineapples for about a week. Four Loko is a caffeinated alcohol, which is sort of like Red Bull and vodka on crack.

Jason and I throwing candy to strangers

So needless to say, the night was interesting.

We started the day early by drinking our adult beverages. Then, Randall (aka John McEnroe for the night) had the brilliant idea of throwing candy down to strangers on Ocean Drive from the balcony. Nina and I quickly ran to Walgreens to restock. The candy extravaganza was a blast, but Josh had to lay down some rules. Only underhanded throws and no more throwing candy across the street because after the beverages our aim kind of sucked.

Posing with the potato chips...

In between candy throwing and drinking, a few of us decided to go Trick or Treating. Josh lives in a building with a lot of old people, so I think they were a little scared of us. We got one couple to answer the door. A cute little old lady answered. Although she did not have any Halloween candy, she did have Butterscotch hard candy. You know, the ones your grandma always gives you. After that, we gave up. It was way more fun throwing candy to people from the balcony.

So, how could this Halloween night get any better? Fried potatoes. I knew I would be in serious need of carbs, so I bought some Hot and Spicy Barbeque Chips from Lay’s when Nina and I were at Walgreens. I figured dragon breath was perfect for a spooktacular Halloween evening out. They were crispy,

crunchy, hot and had a touch of sweetness. I never see these at the grocery store, but I will probably start looking for them a little more closely. They were delicious.

After the last chip was consumed, we hopped in a cab and headed to Lincoln Road.

To be continued…

French Fries at Joe Allen in South Beach

French Fries at Joe Allen

Oddly enough, I have never been to Joe Allen in South Beach. I have always heard great things about this restaurant, but for some reason I always forget about it when making dinner plans. My BFF Tania told me that I had to go once she tried the French fries on an excursion to Joe Allen without me. I said ok and we booked a table.

We arrived and Tania announced that the Read the rest of this entry »

Nina and Josh G. enjoying French fries at Clarke's

It may come as no surprise that Clarke’s is one of my favorite restaurants on South Beach. I have done about a gazillion posts from this restaurant. Well, maybe just a few short of a gazillion.

Lucky Strike Lanes in South Beach for Football and French Fries

French Fries at Lucky Strike Lanes

I met a group of friends at Lucky Strike Lanes in South Beach for some football, beer and French fries. As we waited for the rest of our friends, Jason, Josh and I ordered a bucket of beer and a little bit of food. The boys ate wings, while I settled for French fries.

Lucky Strike Lanes isn’t your normal hole-in-the-wall bowling alley. If you were just sitting in the bar area, you would Read the rest of this entry »

Miami Beach, Florida: Shake Shack and French Fries

Shake Shack French Fries

After weeks of hearing about the delicious French fries at Shake Shack, I finally grabbed my girlfriend, Tania, and headed over there for some dinner. Obviously, I ordered the French fries, but I also ordered the ‘Shroom Burger. I just ordered the veggie burger without actually reading the description, so I was in for quite a surprise.

I really, really loved the ‘Shroom Burger, so I will talk about Read the rest of this entry »

I visited La Locanda, which is an Italian restaurant in South Beach, to have dinner with my friends Josh and Tania. We were actually surprised
when they said they had French fries! The food at La Locanda is amazing and the service is impeccable. That is pretty hard to come by in South Beach, so this is a real diamond in the rough.

Although the French fries were only ok, the rest of the food was delicious. I can keep writing, but you should probably just watch the video…
