SMALL4Eddie the Neighbor and I decided to partake in a French fry adventure. It had been several weeks since our last excursion, and to be honest, I really missed our outings. Eddie picked me up on his bike and I rode on the handlebars the entire way. I laughed so hard that my stomach hurt and I felt like I was 12 years old. It was just like riding in the front car on a rollercoaster and I don’t think that I ever want travel another way again.    Read the rest of this entry »

Most of all, I love dinners with French fries, friends, drinks and people watching. Emily and Hillary joined me at Balans, which is located on Lincoln Road in South Beach. South Beach: Five Guys Earns Five Potatoes

Posted by French Fry Fairy On July - 31 - 20097 COMMENTS

fg2I have learned that everybody loves French fries and loves to tell me about the next place I should try them. From the beginning of this French fry quest, I have constantly heard that I must try Five Guys fries. Lucky for me, Five Guys happened to open a new restaurant this past week on 15th Street and Washington Ave in South Beach.

ff4It was my sister Sarah’s last day in Florida, a sad day indeed. To mark the occasion, we decided ff5to gorge ourselves on as much junk food as we could possibly fit into our bellies. There was so much to choose from and in the great words of Cookie Monster, “Om Nom Nom Nom.”ff2

So, we headed down
Ocean Drive in South Beach and stopped at CJ’s Crab Shack. We ordered our meals with extra fat, carbs on the side and an additional order of calories. Oh, and we ordered some French fries.  We tried the fries first so we could give them a fair rating without being too stuffed to fully enjoy their flavor. Read the rest of this entry »

Miami Beach: Canyon Ranch and Artichoke Fries? Huh? Well ok…

As a veteran of the health and wellness industry, I am well aware that eating French fries is exactly opposite of what I preach. But come on, everybody has a vice. When I am not eating fries, I eat extremely well and I exercise regularly. I just happen to eat a lot of fried potatoes and the last time I checked, potatoes were a vegetable. Nobody can really argue with that fact. Cookies, candy and ice cream are not vegetables. French fries are even usually cooked in VEGETABLE oil.fries Read the rest of this entry »

eddiefairyBig Pink is a little neighborhood restaurant on the corner of 2nd and Collins in South Beach with portion sizes that could probably feed a small nation. I had very high expectations for this place for a couple reasons. The first reason being that the name of the restaurant references my favorite color in a very big way. The second reason is they deliver food in pink Volkswagens. I don’t know anyone who could be negative about having dinner brought to them in a car fit for a fairy.

My faithful cohort, Eddie the neighbor, invited me out for a chocolate shake and fries. I am probably the only girl in the world who Read the rest of this entry »

South Beach: Liberty Sport Grill and French Fries

Posted by French Fry Fairy On July - 20 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

libertyMonday afternoons are tough to find partners to go French fry restaurant hopping, so I decided to hop alone. I jumped on my pink beach cruiser and went to eat some lunch all by myself. Sniff. Sniff. I picked out a place close to my house on Washington Avenue in South Beach, Liberty Sport Grill. I always feel awkward eating alone, so I made sure that I talked on the phone the entire time so the other people there knew that I had friends. I think it worked! Read the rest of this entry »

South Beach: Clarke’s and French Fries

After coming back from happy hour, and I was happy, Eddie asked if I wanted to go grab French fries. Umm… Yes!  We walked to a little Irish bar in South Beach, Clarke’s, and continued the quest for delicious fried potatoes.Eddie clarkes

Eddie and I wanted to exemplify the epitome of sophistication, so we ordered French fries as an appetizer. The fries came out hot. The fries had a little skin on them. The fries had a little crunch. The fries were the right texture. There wasn’t anything negative about these fries. That’s good, because the world is a happier place when we focus on the positive. I was a little disheartened when the fries were gone, but a smile returned to my face when Eddie’s meal arrived with more French fries to enjoy. He didn’t have a choice. He had to share. French Fries at Books & Books

I feel that today was one of the most important days of my life as I began the pursuit for the best French fries. The evening began with a twilight bike ride through the heart of South Beach with my favorite neighbor, Eddie. Although his enthusiasm for fries doesn’t quite measure up to my overzealous passion, he made an excellent partner in my fried potato quest.

As we approached Lincoln Road, the bike ride came to end. We arrived at Books and Books and as it turns out, they not only had books, but they also had fries. Hooray! As a matter of fact, we were given the option between sweet potato fries or regular fries for a mere $3.95 each. I wanted to order both, but instead Read the rest of this entry »
