French Fries at Pinz

There are a gazillion reasons to love French fries, but I have come up with my top 10 reason to love the mealtime staple.

1. Salt, Fat and French Fries

Salt is good. Fat is good. French fries are the perfect comfort food. Fried potato strips with salt makes my mouth water just thinking about it.

2. French Fries are a Conversation Starter

If you ever have a lull in a conversation, bring up French fries. I have found that everybody has an opinion on where to enjoy the best French fries.

3. Dipping Sauces for French Fries

You can have spicy, sweet, tangy or just about any other flavor of French fries just by

adding a dipping sauce. The good news is French fries taste delicious with almost any flavor.

4. French Fry Shapes

When you need a new texture to mix things up a little bit, you can choose from endless varieties. Crinkle-cut fries, waffle fries, steak fries, potato chips and I even made heart-shaped French fries recently!

5. French Fries are Vegetables

Shane's Rib Shack

I recently found out about a contest from Shane’s Rib Shack. This restaurant chain is located in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. Whew! That’s a lot of states. Shane’s Rib Shack is in the process of introducing new side dishes. Many people submitted recipes to be considered by Shane’s Rib Shack and there were three finalists chosen. I immediately became interested when I saw that two of the three finalists were potato side dishes! Yummy.

French Fries at the Outback Steakhouse

Posted by French Fry Fairy On August - 24 - 2010ADD COMMENTS

Josh and I went to the Outback Steakhouse to grab some grub. I really wanted the Bloomin’ Onion. There are no words to describe the deliciousness of the Bloomin’ Onion. I once read that it has the most calories and fat than any other appetizer… ever. It’s yummy. Read the rest of this entry »

A recent article by the American Journal of Cardiology recently published an article that makes some pretty ballsy claims. They are suggesting that the negative effects of fast food may be lessened if consumers take a statin (cholesterol lowering drug) while consuming their favorite fatty treats. All I can say to that is –  WTF? Even I think that is absolutely ridiculous. I eat way more French fries than the average person, but I know that you can only enjoy fattening things in moderation. No French Fries or Dinner… Just Fried Milk Duds and Candy Corn

Posted by French Fry Fairy On August - 21 - 20101 COMMENT

So I was sitting at home and for once in my life I wasn’t craving fried potatoes. I was craving something fattening and sweet, but I still wanted it to be fried. I remembered a blog post I wrote for the Miami New Times about the Top 10 Fried Foods. I decided to fry something other than tubers that I learned to like while writing that post. *Warning* This post is not for health nuts or dieters.

Surprisingly, fried Candy Corn and Milk Duds are especially delicious. You might just think you can throw these little nuggets of sweetness into the fryer. Not the case… There is a process to making extra delicious fried balls of sugar.

Step One: Heat up your fryer Read the rest of this entry »

Looking for the letter ‘R’?  Follow the link at the end of post my post

When I was in high school I worked next door to Wendy’s, which is where one for my girlfriends first told me to dip my fries in a Frosty. I was a little skeptical at first, but after I tried it I found that the sweet and salty combination was really good! I have been out of high school for a few years now (well maybe more than a few years), which has allowed my sophisticated palate for French fries to develop. I will have to say that this is one of the most unique French fry experiences I have had yet! Read the rest of this entry »

I Need Your Vote. Soggy or Crispy Sweet Potato Fries.

Posted by French Fry Fairy On September - 3 - 20096 COMMENTS

Recently I wanted to start a campaign against soggy sweet potato fries. I was under the impression that everyone believes that crispy sweet potato fries are the way to go. I believe that soggy French fries are just about as enjoyable as a hot poker in the eye, but that is just a personal opinion.
However, some of my dear girlfriends informed me that they ACTUALLY enjoy soggy sweet potato fries. That made me question whether there are other people out there who enjoy mushy and moist sweet potatoes. Gross… but whatever. Everyone is entitled to an opinion – even if it is wrong.
